Honest Air Conditioning Servicing and Repairs.

Regular servicing keeps your system running well and extends its life. When repairs are needed, we diagnose accurately, explain clearly, and fix it right.

WHAT WE SERVICE AND REPAIR

What We Cover

We carry out routine servicing and repairs on most major residential air conditioning brands and system types, including:

Split systems - all major brands

Multi-head split systems

Ducted reverse-cycle systems, including systems we installed and those installed by others

If it's a system or fault we're not set up to handle, we'll be straight with you rather than attempt something outside our expertise.

WHY REGULAR SERVICING MATTERS

The Cost of Skipping the Annual Service

Most air conditioning problems don't appear suddenly. They develop gradually: a filter that gets progressively blocked, a drain that slowly fails to clear, a refrigerant level that drops over time. Eventually the system either underperforms noticeably or fails at the worst possible moment.

Annual servicing catches these issues early. It also:

Improves efficiency, which reduces running costs

Extends the working life of the system

Keeps manufacturer warranty conditions met for most brands

Gives you a clear picture of the system's health and any upcoming issues

The cost of an annual service is a fraction of the cost of an early replacement or an emergency repair during a Canberra heatwave.

WHAT A SERVICE INCLUDES

What We Actually Do During a Service Visit

We don't use a checklist as a prop. Here's what we do on every routine service.

Indoor unit:

  • Filter removal, cleaning, and inspection
  • Coil cleaning
  • Condensate drain inspection and clear
  • Airflow check across all vents
  • Control check and mode testing
  • Visual inspection of all connections and components

Outdoor unit:

  • Coil cleaning, including fins
  • Fan blade inspection
  • Refrigerant pressure check
  • Electrical connection inspection
  • Visual inspection for damage, corrosion, or obstruction

System overall:

  • Full operational test across heating and cooling modes
  • Check of thermostat accuracy
  • Assessment of any unusual noises or behaviours
  • Written summary of findings and any recommendations

REPAIRS - HOW WE APPROACH THEM

Diagnose First. Quote Before We Touch It.

We carry out a proper diagnostic before recommending any repair. We'll tell you what's wrong, what we need to do to fix it, what parts are involved, and what the cost will be, before we start work.

If the repair cost is close to or exceeds the value of the system, we'll tell you that too. Sometimes the honest recommendation is replacement, not repair. We'd rather have that conversation than do a repair that won't give you good value.

COMMON REPAIR SITUATIONS

Some Of The Problems We See Regularly

01

System not cooling or heating properly

This can have several causes: a dirty filter reducing airflow, a refrigerant issue, a failing compressor, or a system that was never the right size and has been struggling from day one. We diagnose accurately before recommending anything.

02

Water leaking from the indoor unit

Usually a blocked or badly pitched condensate drain. Straightforward to fix if caught early, and potentially damaging to ceilings and walls if left.

03

System running but not reaching temperature

Often a refrigerant issue, a dirty coil, or a failing fan motor. We'll tell you which one it is and what fixing it involves. If it's a ducted system with rooms not reaching temperature, the cause is often the original install, not a fault.

04

Unusual noises

Rattles, squeals, and grinding sounds point to specific components and failure modes. We diagnose the cause rather than suggest a blanket replacement.

05

System not turning on

Could be electrical, could be a failed control board, could be something simpler. We work through it methodically.

06

High running costs

If your system has become noticeably more expensive to run, it often means degraded efficiency. A dirty coil, a refrigerant issue, or a component working harder than it should. A service visit will usually identify the cause.

REPAIR VS REPLACEMENT

When We'll Recommend Replacement Instead

Not every system is worth repairing. We'll recommend replacement when:

The repair cost is a large proportion of the cost of a new system

The system is old enough that other components are likely to fail soon

The refrigerant type makes servicing increasingly expensive, as is the case with older systems running on R22

We don't benefit from replacement recommendations unless you choose us for the new install. If replacement is the right call, we can install a new ducted system or replace it with a new split system, depending on your home.

Our advice on repair versus replacement is based on what's genuinely in your interest.

SERVICING AND REPAIRS FAQ

Questions About Servicing and Repairs

  • How often should I service my air conditioning system?

Once a year is the standard recommendation, ideally in spring before the peak cooling season. If your system runs heavily across both heating and cooling seasons, cleaning the filters every few months is also worthwhile. Annual professional servicing covers everything else.

  • How much does a service cost?

Pricing depends on the system type and how long since the last service. We provide upfront pricing when you book, based on your system. There are no hidden call-out fees. If we find something during the service that needs extra work, we'll quote it separately before we proceed.

  • My system is making a strange noise. Is that serious?

It depends on the noise. Some sounds, like a brief hiss when the system starts, are normal. Others, such as rattling, grinding, or a persistent whine, usually indicate a component issue. Don't ignore it. Book a diagnostic visit and we'll tell you exactly what's causing it.

  • Can you service a system you didn't install?

Yes. We service and repair most major residential brands regardless of who installed them. If we come across something that needs specialist attention beyond our scope, we'll tell you.

  • My system is more than ten years old. Is it worth repairing?

Possibly, depending on the repair. We'll assess the system's overall condition, the nature of the fault, and the cost of the repair relative to the time it's likely to have left. If we think replacement makes more sense, we'll say so and walk you through the options.

  • Do you offer emergency callouts for system failures?

We understand a system failure in Canberra's January heat or July cold is urgent. Call us directly and we'll do our best to get to you as quickly as possible. Our capacity for same-day attendance varies, but we treat genuine breakdowns as a priority.

  • Does servicing affect my warranty?

For many manufacturers, annual professional servicing is a condition of keeping the warranty valid. We can service your system in line with these requirements. Check your documentation or ask us if you're unsure what's needed.
